Cylinder Casters

Eagle Cylinder Casters are used to turn bulk molten lead into standardized, high-surface-area "abrasive media" that makes the ball mill production of lead oxide faster, more consistent, and more economical.

With decades of engineering expertise, Eagle’s cylinder casters (also known as lead cylinder casting machines) are built to deliver process efficiency, product consistency, and automation in ball mill oxide production.

Optimal Surface Area for Rapid Oxidation

The cylindrical shape provides an optimal surface‑area‑to‑volume ratio, promoting efficient abrasive oxidation as the lead tumbles in the mill with forced airflow. Uniform size and weight — typically around 20 mm in diameter and 18 mm in height — ensure predictable tumbling behavior and consistent oxide characteristics, including controlled free‑lead content and particle‑size distribution.

Increased Production & Formation of Tetragonal Lead Oxide

Eagle Cylinder Casters are commonly integrated into continuous, automated systems capable of producing up to 1.5 – 2.1 tons per hour. Molten lead can be fed directly from the melt pot, eliminating intermediate ingot casting and re‑melting. Rapid internal water cooling and external air cooling allow for fast solidification and high throughput.

This process reduces energy consumption, material handling, and wear on ball mill linings compared with irregular scrap lead. Precise control of cylinder geometry also supports consistent formation of tetragonal lead oxide, which is preferred for battery paste applications.
